Telegram Web: Sign In and Use Telegram in a Browser

Use Telegram in a browser

Telegram’s applications directory lists two browser apps, WebA and WebK. Telegram Web can be useful when you need access from a computer without installing a desktop app. Check the address carefully before signing in: lookalike pages may imitate Telegram’s login screen.

Telegram Web sign-in happens in a Telegram web client. This page has no sign-in form and does not ask for your phone number, login code or QR login approval. Before entering account information on any web client, confirm the full domain in the browser address bar.

Sign in and approve a session carefully

Follow the login options offered by Telegram’s web app. If a QR code is presented, approve it only when you initiated the sign-in and recognize the browser and computer. Telegram’s QR login flow requires approval from an already signed-in Telegram app. A QR code can authorize a new session, so do not scan a code shown by an unfamiliar person, website or support message.

If signing in with a code, Telegram may send the account login code to the verified Telegram service chat on another connected device. Keep the code private. Telegram warns that account login codes should not be shared with anyone, including other services or apps.

Shared and public computers

Before signing in on a shared device, consider whether you can control the browser and remove your session afterward. Do not save passwords or leave Telegram open for the next person. When finished, sign out using Telegram’s controls, close the browser window and review active sessions from a device you trust. If the computer may be monitored, do not enter account credentials there.

Telegram Web vs Telegram Desktop

Telegram Web runs in the browser; Telegram Desktop is installed on the computer. Web can be convenient for a temporary session or a computer where you cannot install software. Desktop may be preferable for regular use on a computer you control. Telegram’s current app directory lists WebA and WebK separately from its Windows/Mac/Linux desktop client and native macOS app.

Cloud chats can sync after sign-in across devices. Secret Chats are device-specific and are not part of Telegram Cloud, so do not expect a Secret Chat from a phone to appear in a browser session.

Troubleshooting Web access

The page stays blank

Confirm JavaScript is enabled and that your browser is supported by the current web app. Try a current browser version and check whether a content blocker or network filter is preventing the app from loading. Use the expected Telegram web address rather than a third-party sign-in page.

The QR code expires

Reload the Telegram sign-in page to request a current QR code, then approve it from your already signed-in Telegram app only if you initiated the login. Never send a QR image to another person to “help” them sign in.

My phone chat is missing in Telegram Web

Cloud chats and Secret Chats behave differently. Telegram says Secret Chats are device-specific and not part of Telegram Cloud. Check whether the missing conversation is a Secret Chat before assuming that sync has failed.
