Telegram Download Guide: Choose the Right App for Your Device

Choose the app for your device

Choose the device you plan to use. Each card leads to a platform-specific guide with its download option and first-use steps. Mobile apps, desktop installers and Telegram Web are separate routes.

What to verify before installing

Before opening an installer, confirm that the operating system and architecture match your device. Compare the app name and publisher shown on the download destination with the product you intended to get. On a direct-download page, check the version, file name and file size displayed by the publisher. If a checksum or signature is supplied, use the publisher’s instructions to validate it; do not infer that a file is genuine simply because its name contains “Telegram.”

Download buttons are organized by platform. Before opening a file, confirm the app name, publisher, version and system requirements shown with the selected download. Where file size, checksum or signature details are available, use them to confirm that the package matches the listed release.

Choose Desktop or Web

Telegram Web opens in a browser and avoids a local app installation. Telegram Desktop is installed on the computer and may be more convenient for regular use. Both options can access Telegram cloud chats after sign-in, but Secret Chats are device-specific and are not part of Telegram Cloud. Choose the browser guide for a temporary or shared computer, and the desktop guide for an app installed on a computer you control.

Sign-in and account safety

Signing into a new app or browser creates another active session. Keep login codes private: Telegram says account login codes should not be shared with other people, bots or services. After signing in, review the active sessions list and remove sessions you do not recognize. If you enable 2-Step Verification, protect its recovery email as well.

Frequently asked questions

Is Telegram Web the same as Telegram Desktop?

No. Telegram Web runs in a browser; Telegram Desktop is an installed computer application. Telegram’s apps directory lists WebA and WebK as web apps and separately lists Telegram Desktop and the native macOS client.

Will my chats appear on every device?

Telegram cloud chats can sync across signed-in devices. Secret Chats are different: Telegram says they are device-specific and are not part of Telegram Cloud.

Where can I find the download for my device?

Choose your device above. Each platform page shows its download option when the destination is available, plus the setup steps for that device. A Web option opens in a browser and does not require an installer.

Where should I start if I cannot sign in?

Open the sign-in troubleshooting guide for the device you are using. Do not repeatedly request codes or share a code with a third party; check Telegram’s account-code guidance and your active sessions instead.
