Telegram Account Help: Sign-In, Security and Sessions

Use this section when you need help signing in, checking a browser session or protecting an account you can still access. The guides explain steps available in Telegram; they cannot recover an account or act as Telegram support.

Know the difference between a code and a password

A verification code is used for a particular sign-in or account action. A two-step verification password is an additional credential configured by the account owner. Neither belongs in a chat with another person, a bot or a third-party website. Do not share a QR approval either: approving it can authorize a new session.

Telegram’s delivery flow can change and may depend on whether an account already has an active session. Follow the instructions shown in the current Telegram app rather than relying on an old screenshot or a message claiming that one delivery method always applies.

Review devices after a new sign-in

Open the session-management area in an app you trust and look at the devices connected to the account. End sessions you do not recognize or no longer use. Location labels are approximate signals and can be affected by network routing, so they are not proof of a person’s identity or exact location.

Use browser sign-in carefully

Telegram Web can be useful on a computer where installing an application is inconvenient. Before entering account information or scanning a QR code, verify the full website address. On a shared computer, sign out when you finish and confirm that the session is no longer listed on your account’s device screen.

When you cannot access the account

Use the recovery options shown by Telegram in its current official app or help resources. A guide site cannot bypass phone-number access, remove a two-step verification password or restore an account. Be cautious of paid recovery offers and anyone who asks for a code or remote access to your device.
